Licensed & Insured

Here's What That Actually Means

Every tree service says it. Few actually have it. Some are operating on nothing more than a driver's license and truck insurance — which covers exactly none of the risks you take when someone climbs a tree on your property.

What We Actually Carry

Four real pieces of coverage — each one protects you in a different, specific way.

State of California

Contractor's License #851661

Legal authorization from the California Contractors State License Board to perform tree work for hire. It means we've passed exams, posted a bond, and operate as a real, regulated business.

If they don't have this

Without this, the “company” is operating illegally on your property — and you have no recourse with the state if the job goes wrong.

Every crew member covered

Workers' Compensation

If one of our crew is injured on your property, our workers' comp policy covers their medical bills and lost wages. You are never asked to pay, and your homeowner's insurance is never touched.

If they don't have this

If a tree guy with no workers' comp gets hurt in your yard, you can be held personally liable. That is the single biggest hidden risk homeowners take when they hire cash-only crews.

Personal & property damage coverage

General Liability (PL & PD)

Real insurance that covers property damage and personal injury during the job — your house, fence, driveway, landscaping, neighbors' property, the whole thing.

If they don't have this

A driver's license and truck insurance do none of this. Truck insurance only covers the truck while it's on the road. It does not cover a branch that goes through your roof.

Available for your job

Additional Insured on Request

We can name you (the homeowner) as an additional insured on our general liability policy for your specific job. Ask and we'll send it in writing before we start.

If they don't have this

Many tree services can't offer this — because they don't have a real policy to add you to. If someone tells you “we're insured” but can't produce a certificate with your name on it, that's your answer.

Our Offer

Ask to be added as additional insured.

For your specific job, we can name you as an additional insured on our general liability policy — giving you direct protection and a certificate in writing before we start work. Just ask when you call. Many tree services can't do this. We can, and we do.

Driver's License & Truck Insurance ≠ Licensed & Insured

The honest comparison no one else will show you.

What many tree services carry

A driver's license and truck insurance.

  • No contractor's license (not legal to hire for tree work).
  • No workers' comp (you can be sued if a worker is hurt on your property).
  • No general liability (damage to your home, fence, or landscaping is on you).
  • Truck insurance only covers the truck while driving — nothing on the job.

  • California Contractor's License #851661.
  • Workers' Compensation on every crew member.
